About 4–4.5 hours from pickup to drop-off
Plan on about 4–4.5 hours for the whole buggy safari, counted from the moment you are collected at your hotel to the moment you are set down there again. The exact timings shift a little with where your hotel is.
That figure is far more than time at the wheel. It holds every part of the programme:
The riding happens in the Aspendos countryside, on the land along the Köprüçay river, not in Belek. From the Belek area the drive out takes around 35–40 minutes, depending on the hotel; from other areas it has never been timed, so we give no figure for them.
- the transfer from your hotel out to the course
- the safety briefing with the instructor
- the compulsory test ride for every driver
- the buggy route itself, 18 km or 28 km
- the transfer back to the same hotel
Two sessions: morning and afternoon
The safari runs twice a day. The morning session and the afternoon session are the same programme on the same course; only the clock changes. Whichever route you pick, it fits inside that same programme.
You choose the session on the booking form, together with the date and the route. Your pickup time then follows from two things: the session you chose, and the place your hotel takes on the pickup run.
There is no better or worse session in terms of what you ride. What decides it is how you would like the rest of your holiday day to go.
Average pickup times in six areas
For six areas there are average pickup times on record. Treat them as area averages that help you plan, not as a promise for one particular hotel:
Collection starts in Konyaaltı and works eastward along the coast to finish in Boğazkent. Within one area the order of the hotels decides who is picked up earlier, so a neighbour's time may differ slightly from yours.
- Konyaaltı – averages of 08:00 in the morning and 13:00 in the afternoon
- Lara – 08:30 and 13:30
- Kundu – 08:45 and 13:45
- Kadriye – 09:00 and 14:00
- Belek – 09:20 and 14:20
- Boğazkent – 09:35 and 14:35
Areas without a published time
Transfer is included from 15 coastal areas, but only six have an average on record. For Antalya city centre, Muratpaşa, Side, Manavgat, Evrenseki, Kumköy, Çolaklı, Gündoğdu and Kızılot there is no figure, and we would rather leave that space empty than fill it with a guess.
If you are staying in one of them, your pickup time reaches you the day before the safari. The same is true in the six areas above: the average helps you plan the day, while the confirmed time is the one to set your alarm by.
If your hotel lies outside all 15 areas, check with us before you book whether a pickup is possible at all.
Short or long route: one programme
Both routes run over the same course: the short one is 18 km and the long one 28 km, which means 10 km more of the same tracks. Pickup, briefing and test ride are identical for both.
The 4–4.5 hours is recorded for the programme as a whole. No separate door-to-door time has been recorded for the long route, so we do not quote one. Choose your route for the distance you want to ride, not for the clock.
Choosing your session
Morning or afternoon is mostly a question of how you like your day to run. A few points help with the decision:
Whichever you choose, the content of the safari stays the same: the same route lengths, the same briefing, the same course by the river.
- The morning session suits you if you want the afternoon free for the pool, the beach or another plan.
- The afternoon session suits a slow breakfast and a late start. From Konyaaltı it is the gentler choice, as the morning average there is the earliest on the list.
- Food and drinks are not included, so eat before you leave and plan your next meal for afterwards.
- Keep about 4–4.5 hours free after your pickup and avoid booking anything tight straight after.
