Buggy safari from Belek: health, pregnancy and who should think twice

We do not recommend the buggy safari during pregnancy or for anyone with back or neck problems, and we do not recommend it for children under 4, because a small child can find it hard to hold on safely. Guests who are simply not keen to drive can ride in the passenger seat beside a driver. If you have any health condition, tell us before you book so we can talk it through honestly.

Why the ride is physical

This is a real off-road outing, not a smooth drive. The course in the Aspendos countryside, on the land along the Köprüçay river, mixes forest tracks, dusty open ground and shallow river sections, with mud when conditions allow. On ground like that the buggy moves, bumps and tilts, and both people on board feel it, whether they are steering or sitting alongside.

The programme also lasts about 4–4.5 hours from hotel to hotel, with the transfer, the briefing and the test ride, so it is a half day out rather than a quick spin. That movement is part of the fun, and it is also the reason some guests should weigh it up before they book.

Pregnancy

We do not recommend the safari during pregnancy. This is not a question of driving skill: the bumps and jolts of the terrain reach the passenger seat as well, so riding alongside is not a gentler alternative.

If you are expecting and your partner or friends still want to go, they can ride without you. You are welcome to stay at the hotel; if you would like to travel out with them to watch, keep in mind that a spectator travelling out with the group counts as a participant and pays as well.

Back and neck problems

The same advice applies to anyone with back or neck problems. An uneven forest track means steady jolts, and those are felt in the passenger seat as much as at the wheel.

We are not doctors and cannot judge an individual case for you. If you are unsure whether your condition counts, ask your own doctor before the holiday, and let us know while you are still deciding, not when the pickup is already due.

Children under 4

We do not recommend the safari for children under 4, because a small child can find it hard to hold on safely. It is a recommendation, and we would rather say it plainly here than have you find out at the base.

Older children can ride in the buggy's passenger seat, which sits next to the driver, and teenagers of 16 and 17 can drive once they complete the compulsory test ride. Should a younger child join anyway, they are charged the passenger fare, because no age group rides without paying.

The passenger seat for guests who would rather not drive

Not everyone wants to steer, and nobody has to. A guest who would rather not drive, or who feels nervous about it, can take the seat beside a driver for half of what the driver is charged: €17.50 on the 18 km route or €21.50 on the 28 km route. The same applies to a driver who does not complete the compulsory test ride; they ride as a half-price passenger instead.

The passenger seat is a choice about who holds the wheel, not about how much the ride shakes. It suits a confident adult who simply prefers to watch the track go by, but it does not change our advice on pregnancy, back or neck problems.

Tell us before you book

If you have a condition that might matter on a bumpy off-road ride, raise it while you are still planning, not on the day itself. Our WhatsApp line handles English, Russian, German and Polish, so you can explain it in your own language.

Wheelchairs and mobility aids: we have nothing on record about carrying them or about access at the base, so we will not promise anything here. If this concerns you or someone in your party, check with us over WhatsApp beforehand; you will get a straight answer. Because reserving needs no card or prepayment and stays cancellable at no cost until 48 hours before the start, you lose nothing by asking first.

The safety briefing and the test ride before the start help you understand how the buggy behaves, but they are no substitute for medical advice. It is better to make the call calmly at the hotel than at the base.

Questions

Questions about this safari

Is the passenger seat gentler than driving?
Not in the way that matters for health. Both seats take the same bumps from the terrain, so our advice on pregnancy, back and neck problems covers passengers too.
Is there anything for the dust if I have sensitive airways?
The helmet is the one piece of kit we supply; a dust mask does not come with the ride. If dust bothers you, bring a bandana or a mask of your own, and mention any breathing condition before you book.
Can I take part with a heart condition or high blood pressure?
We cannot assess that for you. Check with your doctor and tell us before you book.
Is insurance included?
Yes. Insurance is part of the price, together with the round-trip hotel transfer, the instructor with the safety briefing and test ride, and the helmet.
